Riesling is king.
Nestled between the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve and the Rhine river, this is where our grapes grow. Without a doubt, an idyllic spot on earth: sun-drenched and with a spectacular view over the vastness of the Rhine valley. But even cool enough to produce vibrating first-class Riesling, which is our goal and mission.
Crafts and Terroir
Our single vineyards are the foundation for our high-quality Rieslings from four different soils: limestone, red sandstone, slate and as a very special one: granite.
That’s why we take great care of our vines every day. We read the result in autumn: healthy and ripe grapes, which we transform into wines that reflect their own type of soil and terroir.

Pioneers of sustainability
In 1982, the Swiss wine cultivator Valentine Blattner had a vision: Make the vine more resistant so that there would be no need to apply pesticides of any kind at all. With this goal in mind, he began his vine research…
After nine years of experimentation he revealed his innovation in 1991: The first ‚Cabernet Blanc‘ vine. But still the development until it could be marketed and planted for the first time should take until 2003.
„Our winery was one of the first three wineries in the world to be allowed to cultivate the variety for experimental purposes.“
Since then it was a long way, but it was worth it: ‚Cabernet Blanc‘ is so incredibly resistant to powdery & downy mildew (said archenemies) that 70% to 90% less pesticide is needed. At the same time, it has an excellent taste. You can savour the Sauvignon Blanc ancestry combined with a mediterranean touch and crisp fruit.
But you’d best try it for yourself!
